DOG OBEDIENCE /BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION

Training your pup builds a strong relationship built on trust and respect.

Puppy/beginner – $350 ($70/ea) : This is a foundation in fundamentals. One hour sessions for five consecutive weeks at your home or mine. You will learn to teach your pup the “common commands” – sit, down, stay, come, off, no/leave-it, leash manners and solutions for common puppy behaviors. And typically a few fun tricks.

Advanced – $350 (70/ea) : This is five consecutive weeks at your home/my home or “satellite” area where will incrementally add distance, duration, & distraction to what you learned in beginner class, heel (from different directions), positioning obedience, place (bed).

Behavior/Single Issues – $80/1hr session – Just need help with certain things? Anxiety, aggression, integrating dogs – tips on how to deal with these things can usually be done in one session, but will take you some time to work thru, which I can do as many visits as you feel you and your pup need.

Day Care or Camp

Day Care $25:  Drop off as early as 7am and pick by 5pm for, $5 extra if after 6pm. Your pup will get 2 30min solo or pack walks and 20min group play or private “intense” exercise.

Day Camp $50:  Your pup will get 20 min of obedience training on top of  the daycare exercise. I recommend 3days/wk if just starting your training, it really depends on how much time you want to take for your put to get that knowledge down.

Board & Train

Remember training builds a bond between you and your dog, however if you don’t feel you have time for the repetition required to get started this is your section. We will need to go over what it will take for you to maintain and build on your pup’s knowledge.

Puppy/Beginner – $1000 ($70/day, +food) : 14 day board/train which will cover the basics. This is just the foundation of fundamentals. At pick-up I will show you how to reinforce and continue to strengthen the good behaviors your pup learns. Remember training is a lifelong relationship for you and your dog, and there is always an environmental adjustment.

Puppy/Beginner Plus $ 1470 ($70/day, +food) : 21 day program where I will better reinforce your pup’s new knowledge and begin introducing some of the intermediate work. Again, this is foundation of fundamentals, and still requires about an hour on pick-up to go over everything for you to continue.

Combined Pack – $ 2450 ($70/day, +food):  35 day board/train of beginner & intermediate. This gets your pup plenty of practice in distracting areas – the park, pet store. There will still be an environmental adjustment, so you will still have to be consistent with what your pup learns.

* 25% due at booking to hold date, balance due at drop off.  You provide your pups food, I use their kibble for training for first week minimum; any training treats I use from that point are included in fee.

Boarding

Going out of town for the weekend or longer? I will watch your pup(s) while your gone. Your dog will get at least two 30 min walks, play time with my guys & any extra potty breaks needed. There will be plenty of free time to play or chill out with my guys or alone in my training area. I recommend bringing your dog’s bedding, food, fave toy. If you don’t want to carry them, no worries! I have bedding, & toys.  $40/night

    Evening,
We are looking for help with boarding and training our new chocolate lab, 9 weeks old thursday. We will be traveling a lot over the next three weeks and was hoping to find someone to train her and board her while we are gone to give her some consistency. We are looking for May 25 thru June 12th,

    • Larry D Pletcher says:

Hi Jeanne, thank you for reaching out. I am available. It looks like that would be 19 days, so I would just add $55 more. That young of a puppy, we probly need to focus on crate/potty training as well.

  2. Tatiana Topete says:

Ella is a Sheppard Mix. Overall, she is well behaved, she is really good about not pee or pop inside the house, doesn’t eat the furniture and occasionally chew on something she shouldn’t as puppy´s do. She is 7 months.

There are 2 main things we want to work on with her,
1.- Leash, we want her to stop pulling and
2.- Barking, she does this thing where she barks at every person that walks in front or towards her.

    • Larry D Pletcher says:

Hi Tatiana, thanks for reaching out whine Ella is young, before these behaviors become more learned. I sent a more detailed email, but these behaviors are fairly easy to curb.
I look forward to possibly getting y’all on the right track for a long and happy relationship.

  5. Kelsey McDonough says:

My service dog in training has become fear reactive to people, mostly men. I’m concerned that this will become fear aggression and impact his work.

    • Larry D Pletcher says:

Hi Kelsey, thanks for reaching out.

The reactivity is definitely something we need to look into. As long as your calm & she’s not pushed I don’t think you need to worry about it escalating.

I’ll send you a reply email to see about a consult, so we can figure out why the reactivity has started and be get a training plan going to help him get back on track.

Thanks again, talk to you soon

Hello, we have a corgi puppy. She has just turned 6 months old. She is super sweet, but she is super full of energy. She’s for the most part potty trained, but we need a board/train program that would teach her basic commands, etc. I would like to know a little more about your programs, and if you have any openings between now and March 10th.

    • Larry D Pletcher says:

Hi Marci, thanks for reaching out.
I just shot you a message thru FB Messenger, but unfortunately it looks like our times won’t match up.
I’ve got a couple people I can reach out to for you, but March tends to be busy because people going to spring break.
Let me know if I can help.

Our year and half old rescue dog Ella is a smooth collie and possibly a Rhodesian ridgeback mix.

She is very protective when people are at our home, on walks and if people approach too quickly.

When someone stands up from the couch/table at our home she lunges/barks/growls. Unless the visitor is stern with her and doesn’t allow her to “boss” them, she continues and we have to put her in another room.

While in public, if a stranger approaches too quickly or from behind, she barks and growls. Since her bark is so loud it leaves strangers speechless and afraid.

Lastly, we no longer go to the dog park because she is possessive of the tennis balls other people leave at the park. If another dog approaches her when she has a tennis ball she gets angry. Usually at that point we leave the park.

On the flip side, she goes to daycare weekly and she is their angel dog and never have any issues.

    • Larry D Pletcher says:

Hi Lindsey, thanks for reaching out.
So, in the home I would say y’all need to take charge. It’s not your company’s responsibility to control your dog.
Have you done obedience work with her?
Does she have a “place”/”on your bed” command?

Do you walk her on collar? Harnesses are terrible for reactive dogs (& I don’t really like them anyway, gives control to the dog instead of you). trainers that tell you to use a harness are going to tell you to shove food in her face thru the whole process – which is hard mechanically for most people, & tends to not work (or doesn’t work for long) because the stimulus is way more valuable than food even with a lot of very food motivated dogs.
Depending on her reaction intensity you might be able to simply address by saying “settle”/”take it easy” in a calm tone, the words don’t matter (until it becomes pattern) the tone & your energy does.
Depending on space try: When she’s starting her reaction (ideally you notice the distance she reacts & can start turn before she starts reaction) try disrupting by doing what I guess would be like a 270deg “inside turn” (you cross her face to break line of sight to stimulus, crossing her face also helps if she’s being “protective” of you, shows her you are in control of situation & keeping her safe, so she doesn’t need to protect you), keep walking until she’s disengaged, then you can turn back toward the stimulus – keep repeating as necessary.
If space doesn’t allow, you can try a full 360 – sometimes it breaks their focus enough they won’t react.
If the reaction is too much & practiced, you might have to start actually correcting it.
It will also help some if more of her play is structured (with you) – play builds engagement & value. Since she’s been getting more of that from dog park & daycare your value is less than other dogs.

I’m not a dog park fan anyway because you can’t control the variables that could cause conflict (i.e. people leaving balls around). Sorry to hear that’s the reason you can’t go, but I’m glad you were responsible in stopping that practice (cuz it only gets worse if not addressed). That also tends to be a byproduct of lack of/not enough leadership.
Do they have toys out @ the daycare? I’m interested in whether it’s actually resource guarding the toy or the environment. Do you have issues with toys at home? RG could be dog-dog dog-human or both.

I’d be glad to help y’all out & can come to you if you are downtown up to the N. Dallas area.
Or if you want to come to me to try working the reactivity in a more controlled environment.
